Genesis has a strong executive leadership team experienced in managing multiple bridge and permanent lending businesses, as well as real estate investment businesses, over the past 20 years.

Robert Wasmund


  • During his 15+ year career in real estate investments and lending, Mr. Wasmund has developed deep expertise in originating and structuring real estate deals in all parts of the real estate cycle
  • Prior to joining Genesis, Mr. Wasmund served as executive vice president of acquisitions and originations at Anchor Loans
  • As a profit-sharing partner at Anchor, Mr. Wasmund was part of a team responsible for underwriting, structuring and closing more than $1 billion in loans
  • Robert managed the acquisition, development and disposition of properties for Anchor from 2009 to mid-2012, during which time Anchor acquired and re-positioned more than 1,000 assets totaling more than $200 million
  • Mr. Wasmund attended the University of North Florida. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School and served as a reactor operator for five years on the U.S.S. Enterprise
John Day


  • Prior to joining Genesis, John served over 10 years as the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of the L&R Group of Companies and System Property Development Company, where he led the investment strategies, structuring, and underwriting for commercial real estate portfolios valued in excess of $2 billion
  • John began his legal career as a clerk for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and then as a real estate and M&A associate at the law firm of MungerTolles& Olson LLP, where he represented commercial property owners and developers through all aspects of real estate transactions, including real property acquisitions, dispositions, finance and land use
  • John graduated from UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and earned a MBA and Ph.D from the University of Southern California
David Zollenberg


  • Prior to joining the Genesis executive team, David worked for Farmers Insurance Group (a Top 10 Property & Casualty Insurer in the United States with $19 billion in revenue generated through over 55,000 agents) leading finance, analytics, business intelligence, operational improvement, and strategy development across multiple functional and product areas
  • David served as the Chief Financial Officer for Farmers Business Insurance for six years presiding over the fastest growing multi-line commercial carrier in the top 30 U.S. companies while also recording the second best underwriting result during this period
  • Before joining Farmers, David was the Field Financial Officer for Hanover Insurance ($2 billion in revenue)
  • David graduated from Georgia State University with a B.B.A in Finance
Robert Jayne

Construction & Development

  • Prior to joining Genesis, Robert specialized in construction strategies and consulting for luxury real estate developments. He is founder of both RJC Partners LLC and RJC Design Build Inc., two companies that have provided services to over 300 investment properties as either a principal, contractor, or consultant
  • Robert founded Wayside Terrace LLC in 2004, for which he was both principal and developer for turn-around residential and commercial properties in OR, Northern CA, WA, and AZ
  • Previously, Robert was Senior Construction Manager for 7-Eleven’ South-West division, managing the construction department team for all maintenance and construction for 800 stores
Donna Grissom

  • Prior to joining Genesis, Donna was the Director of Sales for Anchor Homes. Donna was responsible for the sales of the entire retail property portfolio, managing $300mm+ in resale transactions
  • Prior to joining Anchor, Donna was a-top producing real estate agent in the Greater Los Angeles area
  • Before working in Real Estate, Donna had a successful sales career in the advertising and marketing industry. For 10 years Donna was the National Sponsorship Director for Ticketmaster Corporation. Prior to Ticketmaster, Donna worked in advertising sales for the LA Times for 4 years
  • Donna is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Journalism
Rayman Mathoda

Board Member

  • Rayman is a recognized leader in the nation’s mortgage lending, real estate, and affordable housing sectors, where prior to joining Genesis she was President of Global Property Exchange/Hudson & Marshall as well as Oversite Data Services, and Chief Revenue Officer of ALAW. Rayman led and achieved major turnarounds and business transformations at all 3 firms
  • Previously, Rayman was Managing Director of HausAngeles Consulting, where she advised policymakers at the White House, Treasury Department, and top Banks/Servicers on housing policy and programs
  • Previously, Rayman was Chief Administrative Officer responsible for 10,000 people and $1 billion in expense at IndyMac Bank (now OneWest/CIT), the 2nd largest independent mortgage lender in the nation
  • She joined IndyMac from McKinsey and Company, a global management consulting firm, where she was co-leader of the firm’s west coast healthcare practice
  • Rayman has an A.B. Honors in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University and an MBA with Distinction in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University
